| Description: | BUYER Our client is looking for a BUYER with a minimum of two years experience of purchasing engineering products, as follows:. Turned and milled steel parts Machined castings (steel and iron) and forgings (steel) Steel fabrications Steel tube Some polymer materials – glass fibre, fibre-reinforced resin etc. Rubber and other moulding compounds Fasteners Consumables – paint, oils, greases, chemicals etc Some overhead items – machine spares etc Purchasing patterns vary from regular weekly scheduled items to one-off project purchases. Part of the role will be introducing more efficient purchasing systems, including schedules, kanban, faxban etc. The role requires someone who is able to juggle priorities, handle pressure, work efficiently, keep documentation in good order, communicate well and identify and implement improvements. You will be negotiating costs, reducing stock levels, controlling overseas sourcing, reducing delivery times, and rationalising the supplier base. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and working in a friendly working environment with a team committed to achieving the Company’s goals of being first in our field and providing an excellent service to our customers. |
