| Description: | MANUFACTURING ENGINEER Our client operates a medium sized engineering company on the sunny south coast of West Sussex in a very beautiful area. They are now looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who will report to the Operations Manager, who will make process and workflow improvements, quality improvement and support for overseas supplier development. You should have some all of the following: Minimum 3 years experience as a manufacturing or production engineer in a mechanical engineering environment or similar. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles. Some experience of working with suppliers, particularly overseas suppliers. Some practical engineering workshop experience an advantage ONC/HNC or equivalent in production or mechanical engineering or similar Be IT literate and familiar with computerised manufacturing control systems. A knowledge of Computerised Planning Systems, i.e. MRP The main responsibilities of the post are as follows: Identify and implement process improvements and workflow/layout improvements: - cost reduction, quality improvement, leadtime reduction, inventory reduction, health and safety improvement Identify and implement improvements in process planning and control Obtain on time delivery Identify causes of poor quality and solutions; reduce reject rates Support supplier development and rating Support new product introduction (tooling, pre-production, documentation) Support the introduction of low cost overseas suppliers Provide support for production |
