An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a successful company in the field of Building Services, based in Hampshire. The job holder shall be responsible for Electrical design work, project coordination, support of junior electrical staff, assisting the Members in promoting the Practice. The job holder will be required to:-
1. Attend project meetings with Clients and other Design Team Members, Contractors etc. 2. Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, report writing etc. 3. Carry out site surveys for projects, to obtain all relevant information required for carrying out scheme design. 4. Carry out detailed scheme designs enabling competitive tenders to be obtained for the works. 5. Write specifications for the works. 6. Correspond with other design team members and the Client on technical issues. 7. Carry out calculations, both manual and by using computer based systems. 8. Provide budget costings as and when required. 9. Comment upon tenders received for projects. 10. Comment upon Contractors’ installation/working drawings. 11. Answer Contractors’ queries during construction/installation period. 12. Attend site progress meetings as and when required, together with monitoring Contractor’s standards of workmanship and materials, together with progress against overall construction programme. 13. Prepare list of snagging/outstanding works at appropriate time(s) during construction/ installation period. 14. Witness final testing and commissioning carried out by Contractor. 15. Assist when required, in agreeing interim application for payment by Contractor, together with agreeing final account with Contractor when appropriate. 16. Assisting the Designated Members, Members and Project Coordinators endeavouring that projects are financially successful, by ensuring efficiency at all times. 17. To act as project Coordinator as and when required (see supplementary job description).
The above to be carried out with minimal supervision of Members.
In addition it will be necessary to guide, assist and supervise Junior and Intermediate design staff. When undertaking such a task, and the job holder notices areas of performance within the Junior and Intermediate staff, that could clearly be assisted by some training, these training requirements should be communicated to the Partnership’s Senior Management.
You will hold a Degree/HNC/ONC in a relevant technical subject and have good experience in the electrical building services industry

Our client is looking to recruit and experienced qualified Quantity Surveyor. The work is mostly providing a service to Construction Companies who tender on a Design Build basis, although some work is traditional, using Architects drawings. You should therefore have the experience to build up a full specification for construction and have an in depth experience of construction to fill out the unspecified details of the buildings. The projects could range in cost from several hundreds of thousands to multi million pounds.
The position is primarily office based and highly computer orientated. One in house program is “Pre-Construct“. It is a small friendly office environment located on the Sussex sea coast. You will be working partly as a member of a small team but you should also be able to be a self starter on an individual basis.
Salary will be commensurate with the your experience and the importance of this position within the company. There would be long term prospects.
You will probably be qualified to RICS or CIOB standard and have formal training. Persons with no experience of UK quantity surveying standards will not be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support Sales with technical assessment of project ‘specials’. 3. Work with key OEM’s to develop product standard conversion, where appropriate. 4. Work with Product Development with the objective of finding new solutions to reduce the cost of the conversion or find ways of improving product reliability and ergonomics etc 5. Take technical ownership of whole conversion to streamline, where possible, and look for continual improvement opportunities. 6. To support, where necessary, Service to understand warranty issues and drive for a lower lifetime cost product. 7. Lead the defining of new products for this area of the Company’s business, especially in dealing with new OEM technologies or product improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Formal electronic/electrical engineering education at degree or higher national diploma/certification level. 2. A broad knowledge of electrical and electronic control systems, for example industrial controllers, plc’s, AC invertors. Ideally electrical design experience in automotive controls, process control systems or signal processing equipment. 3. Practical ’hands on’ track record, comfortable at resolving technical issues at a shop floor level. 4. Good appreciation of mechanical systems, such as hydraulics, electrical motor drive system and braking systems. 5. Project engineering skills, to ensure that all aspects of the project are being co-ordinated effectively. (e.g. managing budgets, scheduling priorities, dealing with technical changes). 6. Commercial awareness, to represent the Company with technical visits at customer sites.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE 1. Experience of working in a ‘special product department’, where ‘engineer to order’ is part of the work process, would be useful. 2. CAD Design experience would be useful.
